Must We Pay For Ignoring The Threat Of Antibiotic Resistant Bacterial Infections

This is not a simple problem and certainly not one that you can ignore. Medical professionals, politicians, device manufacturers and the pharmaceuticals have turned a blind eye. It is complex enough to help us identify the presence of these bacteria that kill but we are living in an illusion that a "Miraculously cure is on site and we are well prepared". One of the numerous lies we have heard over the years and helplessly watching the drama unfold.

It may sounds like a B-movie on the Sci-Fi Channel, but the Bacterial scare is all too real - this prove just how vulnerable we are despite all our scientific know-how and advances in medicine. Since the first antibiotic was discovered in 1940s, we soon forgot a major killer does exist and we are not alone. Antibiotics helped us learn more about our body and gave the opportunity to live a comfortable life.

The first reaction of our politicians for an out cry from patients to "fight this threat of super bug" was to send in an army of cleaners to invade our hospitals. The result of this blind action has strengthened insurgence and is now the biggest threat not only to medical profession but to humankind.

I have been religiously preaching despite humiliating critisism from ignorent doctors and begging device manufacturers to help us bring in changes to weed out this growing threat. I feel my failure has resulted in the number of superbugs increased and new strains have emerged. It is difficult for people to understand that the bacteria recycle waste every twenty minutes. Every dead bacteria with poison (plasmid) are quickly picked up by another harmless bacteria that rapidly become lethal killers. It was only MRSA to start with, but now we are threatened by various strains of bacteria, fungus and even viruses.

We must not blame the bacteria but ourselves for encouraging, demanding doctors to use the arms and ammunitions to mutilate, humiliate and indiscriminately kill micro-organisms. We have discarded living bacteria, viruses locked in tubes, syringes and bottles in our environment. Our arrogant behaviour has turned our ancestors into vicious killers. The assault for this atrocity is likely to be on our children and we may see them perish before we do.

Bacteria are now not only resistant to most antibiotics but also most antiseptics. Over enthusiastic deep cleaning killed most helpful friendly bacteria and has encouraged super bugs grow with no hindrance. Life saving simple practical procedures, minor surgeries, major surgeries, plastic surgery and even transplant will soon come to a grinding halt. The very technology we’ve created to help us live more comfortable and, yes, often healthier lives will turn around & bite us-hard.

I hope I am wrong, because I don't want to relish the thought of seeing my child like the once I have in our hospitals.
